Droopad Bujarbaruah
Guitar/ Music Production Faculty
Droopad Bujarbaruah, popularly known by his stage name Flower Child, is a multifaceted artist, singer- songwriter, guitarist, composer, music producer, sound engineer and emerging entrepreneur hailing from Guwahati, Assam. With deep roots in the Indian music scene, Droopad has performed with several renowned bands and graced prestigious venues and festivals across the country. As an alumnus of India’s premier music institutes, Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (Chennai) and Global Music Institute (New Delhi), Droopad has trained under world class international faculty and India’s very own renowned guitarist, Late Sonam Sherpa, guitarist of India’s pioneering rock band, Parikrama. Apart from training in the institutes named above, Droopad has also pursued his Rockschool degree, scoring distinction in the same. In 2014 Droopad founded Polyphony Academy of Music and Polyphony Studios in New Delhi which was later moved to Guwahati, Assam in 2020. Droopad later moved to Mumbai to pursue a degree in sound engineering and was working in several well known studios. Alongside his music, Droopad is also an MBA degree holder. His creative work spans across live performance, production and composition for independent artists, commercials and regional films, including Green Blackberries, a film that has won multiple awards at international film festivals. Today Droopad is the Founder and Director of Polyphony Academy of Music and guitar teacher in IIT Guwahati.
Wanrieka Passah
Piano Faculty
Miss Wanrieka Passah, born and raised in Shillong, Meghalaya, is an accomplished music educator and pianist with over a decade of experience in music instruction. She holds an impressive academic and performance background, having completed her grade 8 Piano and obtained a Performance Certificate (ATCL Diploma) from Trinity College of Music, London. Her teaching career spans prestigious institutions, including serving as Head of the Western Music Department at the Assam Valley School in 2012 and 2024. She also taught for six years as a Piano faculty at Delhi school of Music, where she trained students across levels in both technique and musicality. She is currently teaching piano at Royal Global School, Guwahati. Miss Passah specializes in preparing students for international music examinations, conducted by Trinity College London and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). As a performer, she has played with and accompanied various ensembles and choirs, including the Delhi Christian Choirs (DCC) and members of the Korean choir under the Korean Cultural Centre. She has performed at prestigious venues like the Siri Fort Auditorium and the Cultural Centre in New Delhi, collaborating with a diverse range of musicians. Miss Passah continues to inspire a new generation of pianists through her dedication to music education and performance excellence.
Anjal Dutta
Violin Faculty
Anjal Dutta is a proficient violin player who is trained in both styles, Western classical and Indian Classical Music. Starting off his career with singing, Anjal had formally trained and acquired his 3 year Diploma in Indian Classical vocals from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Soon after his Diploma, Anjal shifted to violin and has never looked back. Soon after acquiring his Diploma, Anjal began his teaching career with Eurokids, where he served as a violin teacher for 3 years. Soon after he took up violin teaching duties at Euphony School and established his own music institute, Music Vivant. Apart from his teaching career, Anjal is also a proficient performer, who has performed at prestigious venues across the country, performing with different artists that includes Bollywood, Sattriya dance and many more. Currently Anjal is a violin teacher at Royal Global School and IIT Guwahati, Assam.
Bhaskar Jyoti Ojah
Flute Faculty
Bhaskar Jyoti Ojah is a veteran Sattriya music composer and solo and accompanying percussion artist who is also trained in Sattriya dance and Biyah Kirtania Ojah Pali. A Master degree holder in Tabla from Indira Kala Sangeet Viswavidyalaya, Khairgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Vadya Nipun (Tabla) from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Bhaskar is also formally trained in Tabla from Lucknow Gharana and Khol drums. Bhaskar is a “B” graded artist approved by All India Radio central audition board and also approved khol, flute and dholak artist by All India Radio, Guwahati, Assam. Bhaskar is also empanelled under Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi, as an artist, teacher and performer for foreign countries. Bhaskar’s contribution to music spans across both national and international levels, covering countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Israel, UAE, Turkmenistan and many more. Apart from his musical performances, his works can be easily traced in different forms of art including ballet dance, Sattriya traditional dance, kathak dance, drama, and much more. Bhaskar has performed at numerous prestigious venues world over and along side a plethora of seasoned artists. Apart from his percussion skills, Bhaskar is a multi instrumentalist artist who also has a phenomenal command over the flute and drums. Apart from his compositional and performance works, Bhaskar is currently a flute and drums teacher at Royal Global School, Guwahati, Assam.
Shankarjyoti Saikia
Tabla Faculty
Shankarjyoti Saikia is a professional tabla artist and music scholar with over two decades of experience in Indian Classical Music. Trained under maestros like Ustad Akram Khan of the Ajrara Gharana, Shankarjyoti has performed extensively across India at prestigious festivals, cultural exchanges and SPICMACAY concerts. He holds advanced degrees in Anthropology and Sociology and a Master’s in Music from Surnandan Bharati, Kolkata, where he was awarded Best Student of the Year. His career includes notable collaborations with sitarist Dhruv Bedi, participation in international festivals like the Darbar Festival (London) and performances at venues such as the Sangeet Natak Academy, Udaipur World Music Festival and India- Bangladesh diplomatic events. With a passion for cultural preservation and education, Shankarjyoti continues to perform, teach and explore the evolving nuances of rhythm and tradition.
Indrani Talukdar
Indian Classical Vocal Faculty
Indrani Talukdar is a versatile and accomplished singer from Guwahati, Assam, known for her powerful voice and wide- ranging musical repertoire. A recipient of the Women’s Achiever’s Award presented by Former Governor Dr. Jagdish Mukhi for her contributions to music, Indrani has made a mark both as a performer and recording artist. She was recognized as the Best Singer at the Guwahati University Youth Festival 2018 and also won top honours at prestigious competitions including Narengi Anchalik College, Pragjyotish College and Kaziranga University’s talent hunt reality show “Sing with Stars.” Indrani lent her voice as a playback singer for the Assamese film Dr. Bezbaruah 2, adding to her growing list of artistic achievements. She has trained under esteemed mentors such as Jaspinder Narula, Anand Sharma, Mangal Mishra, Salman Ali, Manju Das, Jonali Ojah, Krishna Goswami and Pradyut Mishra, which has shaped her into a well rounded and expressive vocalist. Her collaborative work spans across genres and includes performances with celebrated artists like Zubeen Garg, Indira Naik (Sufi artist from Mumbai), Naveen Kumar (flutist for A.R. Rahman) and Shankar Mahadevan, among others. With a deep rooted passion for music and an ever- evolving artistry, Indrani continues to captivate audiences with her soulful voice and dynamic stage presence.
Mrinal Talukdar
Bass Guitar Faculty
Mrinal Talukdar is the Bass Faculty at Polyphony Academy of Music, bringing over 12 years of professional experience in live performances, studio sessions and cross genre collaborations. An award winning composer and seasoned performer, Mrinal is known for his unique ability to blend Western and Indian musical styles, both in his playing and teaching methodology. His approach to music education is hands on and deeply practical- focusing not only on technique but also on groove, stage presence, expression and musical confidence. Mrinal’s teaching empowers students with real world performance skills and a solid musical foundation, preparing them for both the stage and studio. Throughout his career, he has worked with a wide array of artists and bands, contributing to diverse musical projects and consistently pushing creative boundaries. His dedication to the craft and passion for mentoring young musicians make him an integral part of the Polyphony Academy faculty.
